The 5000genomi@VdA project returns with another appointment in free online live streaming!
On occasion of the 2021 international "DNA Day", commemorating the discovery of the double helix by Nobel Prize winners Watson and Crick on 25 April 1953, the 5000genomi@VdA consortium will present an event for a discussion with the public concerning themes linked to genomics, computational science, and personalised and predictive medicine.
This year, for the first edition, in part due to the pandemic, the event will be held in virtual format, hosting the first researchers that the project attracted to the Region in order to contribute to its scientific success.
The theme for the live event, held on 27 April from 5.30 p.m. on the official 5000genomi@VdA YouTube channel, will be the 20-year duration of the Human Genome Project, featuring the 5000genomi@VdA project’s new researchers: Dr Alessandro Coppe, Senior researcher for the Computational Genomics department, Dr Fabio Landuzzi, Junior Researcher in the Computational department, and Dr Sara Trova, Junior Researcher in the NGS (Next-Generation Sequencing) department, all of whom arrived in the Region to work at the Aosta Centre for Personalised, Preventive and Predictive Medicine (CMP3VdA).
After having described their national and international scientific research experiences, the three young scientists will talk about the role and development of genomics over the last 20 years, and its future application in the Aosta Valley’s health services. To introduce the evening, there will be institutional greetings by Luigi Bertschy, Regional Councillor for economic development, Training and Employment, Carlo Marzi, Councillor for Finance, Innovation, Public Works and Local Territory, and a brief speech by Stefano Gustincich, scientific director of the 5000genomi@VdA project for the Medical Genomics division and Associate Director for Life Science Technologies at IIT-Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia. The event will be chaired by Fabiola Megna, RadioProposta InBlu speaker and editor of the “Hashtag” radio programme.
